All the Roadrunning is a studio album by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris released in 2006. As singles were This Is Us and Beachcombing decoupled. The title track of the album, All the Roadrunning , was released in late 2005 on the album Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler .
Emergence
The first encounter between Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris took place in the context of television recordings when a show was produced in honor of Chet Atkins , with whom both Knopfler and Harris had played together. While recording music for a tribute album for Hank Williams , Harris and Knopfler met again. This is also where the idea of a joint album should have come about. However, due to scheduling issues, they were rarely able to work together on this album. So it took seven years to complete the recordings.
Musician
Mark Knopfler can be heard on guitar on all recordings on the album. With Rollin 'On and Belle Starr , Emmylou Harris also plays acoustic guitar . The other musicians on the album (Richard Bennet, Jim Cox, Guy Fletcher, Chad Cromwell, Danny Cummings, Glenn Worf and Glen Duncan) are essentially Mark Knopfler's band at the time of recording. The meanwhile reshuffling of the band meant that two drummers were involved.
Other musicians were Jim Horn and the Memphis Horns ( wind instruments ), Paul Franklin ( steel guitar ), Dan Dugmore ( guitars ), Steve Conn ( accordion ), Stuart Duncan ( fiddle ) and Billy Ware ( triangle ).

Trivia
With Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher, Danny Cummings and Paul Franklin, four musicians were involved in the album, who belonged to the last tour line-up of Dire Straits .
