The Road to Hell ( English : The road to hell) is one of the studio albums of the English singer Chris Rea from the year 1989 . For the first time Rea reached the top position of the British album charts and was able to repeat this with his following album Auberge . As singles of the main title in an abridged version, and were That's What They Always Say , Tell Me There's a Heaven and Texas decoupled. The title song is his only top ten single hit in England to date (# 10). In the German single charts, Chris Rea was only able to place with the single The Road to Hell (at number 35). Chris Rea continued on this album with the topics of environmental destruction and social cold ( The Road to Hell , Looking for a Rainbow , That's What They Always Say , Texas ), criticism of television ( You Must Be Evil ) and his hobby motorsport ( Daytona ) apart.

Music video
A music video was shot for the song Texas , which deals with the political changes in Germany . The video is about a family from the GDR who emigrated to Texas after the fall of the Berlin Wall, leaving their old home. In return, a West German family is shown, showing the social differences in Germany East and West.
