The Voorman Problem ( German "Das Voorman-Problem" ) is a 13-minute British short film from the production company Honlodge Productions in collaboration with Pipedream Pictures (UK) from 2012. Directed by Mark Gill , who also wrote the screenplay with Baldwin Li . The film is a partial adaptation of the novel number9dream by David Mitchell . Producer Lee Thomas is also having a full film made for the book. The Voorman Problem was nominated for an Oscar 2014 in the category " Best Short Film ". He was previously nominated for the British Academy Film Awards 2013 . The main actors are Martin Freeman and Tom Hollander .

Dr. Williams is hired as a prison psychologist by Governor Bentley because the "War in the East" results in a shortage of doctors. Dr. Williams is informed of the Voorman problem; Voorman is an inmate who believes he is God and has got the other inmates to sing to him all day long. It remains unclear why Voorman is in prison.
Dr. Williams interrogates the straitjacketed Voorman in a locked cell . Voorman calmly explains to him that he is God and that he created the world exactly nine days ago. In response to the doctor's objection, the prisoner suggests a thought experiment . As proof that he is God, he wants to wipe out Belgium .
At home, the frustrated Dr. Williams told his wife about the case. He laughingly adds that Voorman wants to wipe out Belgium. The wife is confused because she does not know Belgium. Dr. Williams tried his wife to show the country in an atlas, however, have to say that Belgium has disappeared and by a body of water called "Walloon Lagoon" ( Walloon was replaced bay).
Back in prison, Dr. Williams puzzled by the absence of Belgium, but denies his belief in Voorman's divinity. Voorman states that he is exhausted from his existence as God and suggests that he and Dr. Williams swap places so that Dr. Williams is supposed to be Gott and Voorman the psychiatrist. In this imagination, Voorman is found as a well-dressed doctor and Dr. Williams disheveled and with a straitjacket. Dr. Williams calls for the guards and Voorman leaves the room, saying that the calling is of no use. When Voorman Dr. Leaves Williams, he advises him to "keep an eye on North Korea ".
At the end of the film, Voorman leaves the room amid increasingly louder chants from fellow prisoners.
