The War (too dt . The war ) is a seven-part documentary, which in 2006 by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick was produced in the United States. In the German version, the seven parts were shown as a 14-part documentation.

The documentary tells the story of ordinary US soldiers during their service time in World War II in Europe and the Pacific as well as the people on the home front in four exemplary US cities, namely Luverne (Minnesota) , Waterbury (Connecticut) , Mobile (Alabama) and Sacramento, California .

Others

One of the sources from which The War was repeatedly quoted was the book Vom alten Schlag: The Second World War at the other end of the world. Memoirs of Eugene Sledge , which also served as the source for the ten-part miniseries The Pacific .
