The Way Back Home is the third studio album by the American country musician Vince Gill and was released in 1987 on the RCA Nashville label. It is the last Vince Gill album under the RCA label, as Gill switched to the MCA Nashville label, where his fourth studio album When I Call Your Name was released.

Allmusic critic Thom Jurek praised Gill's ability to blend honky tonk , rockabilly , country music, bluegrass and pop music . He awarded a total of three out of five possible rating units for The Way Back Home . The commercially most successful single is Cinderella , it reached number five on Billboard Country Songs and number three in Canada. The release Let's Do Something reached number 16 and 17 in the United States and Canada. The singles Everybody's Sweetheart and The Radio , released a year later, ranked eleventh and 39th in the US and third and 32nd in Canada.
