When I Call Your Name is the fourth studio album by the American country musician Vince Gill . It was released in November 1989 under the label MCA Nashville. It was Gill's first album on the label. The album sold more than two million times worldwide, won a Grammy Award in 1991 and is considered Gill's international breakthrough.
The song Ridin 'the Rodeo was released in 1994 by the band Perfect Stranger on their debut album You Have the Right to Remain Silent . Oklahoma Swing sings Gill as a duet with Reba McEntire .

Reception and awards
The music website Allmusic awarded three stars out of five for the album. Chicago Tribune awarded When I Call Your Name three out of four stars . Caitlin O'Connor Creevy notes Gill's “impressive vocals” and his “wonderful ballads”. The album was ranked 67th on the Billboard 200 and ranked second on the Billboard Country Album chart. The 1989 single Never Alone ranked 22nd and 35th in the US and Canada. The release When I Call Your Name reached number two on the Billboard Country Songs and number five on the Canadian country singles chart. Never Knew Lonely was ranked third and seventh in the United States and Canada. Oklahoma Swing was ranked 13th in the US and seventh in Canada. The album was awarded double platinum by the RIAA and achieved platinum status in Canada. When I Call Your Name has sold more than 2.1 million copies worldwide.
