The WhoRidas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whoridas is a hip hop group from Oakland , California . It consists of the rappers Chop Saan and Mr. Taylor.

founding

In 1994 Saafir, who like Shock G and Tupac Shakur was a member of Digital Underground , released the album Boxcar Sessions . Chop, who at that time was already freestyling often in private, was asked by the rapper Saafir to write down his lyrics and to make a guest contribution for the album Boxcar Sessions . The collaboration was the cornerstone of Chop's career. He then formed the Whoridas formation with rapper Mr. Taylor and became part of Hobo Junction , the crew around Saafir. Hobo Junction represented west Oakland in the mid-1990s and hosted hip-hop battles against rappers from east Oakland.

First publications

In 1996 the Whoridas released their debut single Shot Callin '& Big Ballin' on the Southpaw Records label . Some of the single produced by Saafir were sold privately out of the trunk. After the group was able to sell 15,000 copies of their debut single, they signed an artist contract with the Delicious Vinyl label , which had already achieved notoriety through the sound carrier Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loc. In 1997 the Whoridas' first album was released. The sound carrier, which appeared under the title Whoridin ' , was published by five distributors. Despite the participation of well-known producers such as Daz Dillinger , Shock G and Saafir, the debut album could not achieve the expected commercial success.

1999 to today

The Whoridas's second album was released on TVT Records , which a few years later celebrated success with hip-hop artists Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins . A contract with TVT Records sought by the group could not be realized because the Whoridas were contractually under the label Southpaw Records , which in turn belongs to Delicious Vinyl . The second album was released under the title High Times and included features from Method Man , Xzibit and Yukmouth, among others . The sound carrier, which consists of fifteen songs, is stylistically more bass-heavy and the way it is presented is more “chubby” than the previous album. High Times conceived the Whoridas mostly on their own and did not allow themselves to be influenced in the work on the album.

In 2002 the two rappers released their third album, Corner Stone . This did not appear with the help of a larger label, but independently. Corner Stone was also published with a relatively small circulation.

Chop now has its own label. This is called Stay Heated and cooperates with the Delicious Vinyl label . Chop is currently working on his solo album Mercenary Murc .
