Theapolis ( suitcase word from theater and polis ; pronunciation: [teˈaːpolɪs] ? / I ) is an online job exchange for the German-speaking theater and orchestra sector . It was founded in 2000 by Sören Fenner under the name theaterjobs.de in Hamburg and was the first German website to disseminate information about job offers in the theater sector. According to the Career Center of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater (HfMT), the portal is the largest theater job market in German-speaking countries . Audio file / audio sample

After paying for a registration, Theapolis members can read job offers , publish a profile and advertise educational offers . The published annually KIBA ( Artistic Initiative Bewerbungs Almanac ) answered actors and singers questions about unsolicited application to the German city , state and regional theaters . The platform has been called Theapolis since February 1, 2016. In June 2018 Theapolis changed its look and motto and offers organizations from the theater and concert sector to present themselves with a profile free of charge. The forum and the service market were closed.

In 1998, the freelance musical performer Sören Fenner had the idea to put auditions and auditions as well as job offers for theater people together on a website and make them accessible at any time. Until then, such information was only available in monthly specialist magazines , via the employment office or through personal contacts.
