Theo Laurent Custers (born August 10, 1950 in Ghent ) is a former Belgian football player .

Player career

Custers began his career at Waterschei SV Thor Genk, today's KRC Genk. In 1975 he moved to Royal Antwerp . He played in Antwerp for six years before moving to Espanyol Barcelona in Spain . With FC Barcelona 's little brother , Custers stood between the posts for two years. In 1983 he returned to Belgium and signed a contract with KV Mechelen . In 1986 he moved to KSV Bornem in the lower Belgian classes to end his career. Custers did not win a single title in his entire career.

Custers took part in the 1980 European Football Championship in Italy , where he was runner-up with the team. At the Soccer World Cup in Spain in 1982 , he was eliminated from the bottom of the group with the Belgians in the second round. He was called up for the Belgian national team 29 times between 1977 and 1982, but only made ten international appearances between 1979 and 1982.
