Theodor Dingermann (often Theo Dingermann , born July 10, 1948 in Kevelaer ) is a German pharmacist . From 1990 to 2013 he was Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . His areas of expertise are biochemistry and molecular biology .

Life

After completing his apprenticeship as a pharmacist , Dingermann began studying pharmacy at the University of Erlangen in 1973 . After graduating in November 1976, he was licensed as a pharmacist in the same month .

In the working group Biochemistry at the University of Erlangen under the leadership of Helga Kersten, Dingermann received his doctorate in 1980 on the topic: "Regulatory functions of specific transfer ribonucleic acids in the development cycle of the slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum ". After completing his doctorate, he spent time abroad at Yale University . From 1980 to 1982 he was able to work as a post-doc in Dieter Söll's group on the subject of "Regulatory regions in DNA for RNA polymerase III genes in eukaryotes". From 1982 Dingermann worked as an assistant in the biochemistry group at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. There he led his own research group.

In 1985 Dingermann was appointed Academic Councilor, and in 1990 he was appointed Academic Senior Councilor. During the entire time at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Dingermann taught parallel to his research as part of the physiological-chemical internship for doctors and pharmacists and the biochemical advanced internship (genetic engineering) for natural scientists. In 1987 Dingermanns completed his habilitation on the subject of "Transcription Mechanisms of Eukaryotic Transfer RNA Genes". In 1987 he received the license to teach biochemistry and molecular biology.

In 1990 Dingermann accepted the call to a C4 professorship at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and in 1991 became managing director of the institute. From 1998 to 2000 he was Vice President of the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and from 2000 to 2004 President of the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG).

From 2005 to 2012 he was biotechnology representative on the technology advisory board of HA Hessenagentur GmbH and from 2012 to 2014 representative for life sciences and biotechnology for the state of Hessen. Dingermann has been Academic Director of the Goethe Business School since 2015. He is one of two Academic Program Directors for the Master of Pharma Business Administration program .

Dingermann has been editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal Die Pharmazie since 1993 . From 2003 to 2012 he was editor-in-chief of Pharmacy in our time and has been editor-in-chief of Pharmakon since 2013 . Both journals are the official organs of the German Pharmaceutical Society. Since 2010 he has been a member of the editor-in-chief of the Pharmazeutische Zeitung (PZ).
