Theo Maissen (born September 2, 1944 in Chur ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ). He represented the canton of Graubünden in the Council of States from 1995 to 2011 . Maissen works as an agronomist. He lives in Sevgein , is married and has three children. His place of origin is Disentis / Mustér .

Training, job

Theo Maissen completed primary and secondary school in Chur. He then did an apprenticeship as an agricultural employee and then passed the agricultural college with a professional examination . He passed an entrance examination at the ETH Zurich , where he studied from 1968 to 1972 in the agricultural department. He completed his studies with a degree as an engineer agronomist ETH. In 1978 he received his doctorate. sec. techn. From 1972 to 1976 he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Agricultural Management at the ETH and at the same time he worked for the regional organization "Pro Surselva". From 1977 to 2000 he worked as regional secretary at the Surselva municipal association . He was also a lecturer at the ETH from 1983 to 1999. From 2001 to 2002 he worked again as a department head at the Surselva community association. He has been self-employed since 2003.

politics

Maissen rose in 1974 as mayor of Sevgein in politics. He held this office for 10 years until 1984. From 1979 to 1983 he was also a district judge. From 1985 to 1994 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Graubünden. Since 1995 he has been a Councilor for the Canton of Graubünden. Theo Maissen did not run in the elections on October 23, 2011 . Maissen was President of the CVP Graubünden from 1998 to 2008.
