Theo Uppenkamp

Theo Uppenkamp (born December 28, 1923 in Buer , † 2002 in Hamburg ) was a German football player .

Career

The right defender Theo Uppenkamp began his career with the Gelsenkirchen club Erler SV 08 . He came to Hannover 96 in the summer of 1949 via VfL Geseke and Holstein Kiel . A year later Uppenkamp returned to Westphalia and joined the West Upper Division Prussia Münster . With the Prussians he was runner-up in the Oberliga West in 1951 behind FC Schalke 04 and qualified for the German football championship in 1950/51 . The Münster team reached the final there, which was lost 2-1 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Uppenkamp was not used in the final. In 1952 Uppenkamp moved to Eimsbütteler TV in Hamburg , where he ended his career four years later. He completed 145 league games and scored 18 goals. He is a trained hotel manager and ran a restaurant in the Hamburg district of Wohldorf-Ohlstedt . He died in Hamburg in November 2002.
