Theobald Grasböck OCist (born September 16, 1846 in Leonfelden , † September 27, 1915 in Wilhering ) was abbot of Wilhering Abbey from 1892 to 1915 .

biography

Anton Grasböck came from a family smallholders and was in 1854 as a choir boy sent to Wilhering. On August 20, 1867, he entered the monastery and received the religious name Theobald. After completing his theology studies in St. Florian , he was ordained a priest in 1872 . In 1884 he was appointed prior to support the old abbot Alois Dorfer . On July 20, 1892 his predecessor was elected abbot after the death of Bishop and the following day Franz Maria Doppelbauer benediziert . He was elected to the Upper Austrian state parliament as a representative of the large estates . In 1893 he was elected Vicar General of the Austro-Hungarian Cistercian Congregation . From 1899 he was a member of the Herrenhaus , the upper house of the Austrian Imperial Council . During his tenure, the Stiftsgymnasium was founded in Wilhering.

Since 1904 he was an honorary member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Kürnberg Vienna.
