Bernhard Wilpert

Bernhard Wilpert (born March 1, 1936 in Breslau ; † August 20, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German psychologist .

Live and act

As the son of the economist Johannes Wilpert and his wife Emma Breitkopf, he grew up in southern Germany. He studied psychology, sociology and cultural anthropology in Tübingen, Eugene and Bonn. In Tübingen he won in 1965 the doctorate to the Dr. phil. From 1965 to 1967 he worked as an assistant at the German Development Service . From 1968 he worked at the German Development Institute in Berlin as a research assistant, where he also held lectures.

From 1968 to 1977 he held various positions at the Berlin Science Center and at the International Institute for Management and Administration in Berlin. From 1978 to 1980 he taught psychology at the University of Education in Berlin . From 1980 he carried out the same function at the TU Berlin . From 2001 to 2002 he was Vice President of the TU Berlin. In 2003 he went into retirement .

The main focus of his work concerned the areas of the psychology of work and organization in companies. He also dealt with questions of the psychology of safety in large plants such as nuclear reactors. This work has been honored and recognized internationally, especially in Europe.

He was married to Czarina Huerta since 1964 and the couple had two children.

Bernhard Wilpert died of leukemia on August 20, 2007 at the age of 71. The funeral took place on August 31, 2007 in the state-owned cemetery Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend .
