Günter Endruweit

Günter Endruweit (born July 24, 1939 in Tilsit ) is a German sociologist .

Life

The family fled to Marne in Holstein in 1945 . At the high school there, he passed the Abitur in 1959. He then studied law, economics and sociology in Saarbrücken , Tübingen , Kiel and at the Free University of Berlin .

He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Empirical Social Research and at the Sociological Institute in Saarbrücken. There he passed the second state examination in law, and obtained his doctorate in 1972. jur., completed his habilitation in 1977 with a study on the influence of the elite on development for the subject sociology and taught as an assistant professor until 1979. In 1979 he was Professor of Sociology at the Technical University of Berlin , from 1979 to 1980 at the Ruhr University Bochum , from 1980 to 1991 at the University of Stuttgart and from 1991 until his retirement in 2004 at the University of Kiel . He was also visiting professor at Istanbul University and from 1972 to 1973 at Northwestern University in Illinois .

Endruweit held numerous positions in self-government in Bochum, Stuttgart (Dean of the Faculty of History, Social and Economic Sciences 1988–1990), Saarbrücken (Vice President of the University) and Kiel (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences). He is also a member of the Foundation Board of the Arthur Burkhardt Foundation for the Promotion of Science.

Research activities

He researched u. a. the guest worker problem , the function of elites and other minorities for development, the organization of public authorities and companies, local reform, new forms of work process organization and industrial relations and problems of state and private planning.

His main areas of work are general sociology and research methodology, development , community , industrial , organizational , technical and agricultural sociology .
