Theodor Hettinger

Theodor Hettinger (born March 20, 1922 in Niederselters ; † March 9, 1994 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a German doctor and one of the founders of modern occupational medicine .

Origin, education and family

As the son of the civil servant Otto Hettinger and Helene Hettinger, geb. Gruschka was born Theodor Hettinger not far from Limburg an der Lahn in the Taunus . After attending high school doctorate he on 14 June 1948, the Medical Faculty of the University of Frankfurt Dr. med. The following year he married Anneliese geb. Kipker.

In the time up to his habilitation at the TH Aachen in 1968, Hettinger was then initially employed at the hospital in Katzenelnbogen , not far from his place of birth and the Max Planck Institute in Dortmund. These sections were interrupted by his stay at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia . From 1960 to 1976, Hettinger was in charge of the company medical center at Rheinstahl AG in Mülheim .

From 1968 to 1976 he held a chair at the TH Aachen as a private lecturer or associate professor (1971). From there he moved in 1976 to the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , which was founded as a comprehensive university in 1972 , where he took over a professorship at the " Institute for Occupational Medicine, Safety Technology and Ergonomics " (ASER). A few days after his 65th birthday, on the occasion of which a colloquium was held, he retired on March 27, 1987.
