Sung Yu-chi ( Chinese  宋玉麒 , Pinyin Sòng Yùqí , born January 16, 1982 in Shulin , New Taipei ) is a former Taiwanese Taekwondoin . Among other things, he won a world championship title in 2007 and an Olympic bronze medal in featherweight and lightweight.

Sung celebrated his first international success at the 1998 Junior World Championship in Istanbul , where he won the title in the class up to 63 kilograms. In the adult field, he made his debut at the 2001 World Cup in Jeju-si , but retired early. Sung achieved his breakthrough in the international top in the following year 2002. In the class up to 67 kilograms he was able to reach the finals at the Asian Championships in Amman and the Asian Games in Busan and fight for silver. There were no further successes in the following years. Only at the 2007 World Cup in Beijing did Sung find his way back to success. In the class up to 72 kilograms he beat Tommy Mollet in the semifinals and Nesar Ahmad Bahave after three opening wins in the semifinals and celebrated his only gold medal at major championships with the world championship. The following year, Sung competed in the Beijing 2008 Olympics. In the class up to 68 kilograms he won the Olympic tournament after a first success in the quarterfinals against Dmitri Kim , was defeated in the semifinals to the later Olympic champion Son Tae-jin , but finally won the bronze medal by winning the small final against Daniel Manz . After the games, he ended his active career.
