Theodor "Theo" Puff (born November 21, 1927 , † May 8, 1999 ) was a German football player who had played 12 international matches for the Saarland national team .
Career
societies
Between 1946 and 1960 Theo Puff played 255 games for 1. FC Saarbrücken , in which he scored ten goals. He was twice champion of the Oberliga Südwest.
On June 22, 1952, he was defeated by 1. FCS in the final of the German soccer championship against VfB Stuttgart 2: 3. In this game the Saarbrücken goalkeeper Erwin Strempel was injured about 25 minutes before the end. Since it could not be substituted, Theo Puff went into goal for the remaining playing time.
National team
Theo Puff played twelve international A matches for Saarland between 1950 and 1956 , including three of four qualifying matches for the 1954 World Cup against the selection of Norway and Germany . For the B national team, he played the international match won on May 1, 1955 in Neunkircher Ellenfeldstadion 4-2 against the B selection of the Netherlands.
In the 4: 1 friendly match against the English cup finalists FC Liverpool on May 31, 1950, he gave the template to 3: 1 by Herbert Binkert .
In the European Cup champions who met 1.FCS 1955 as a representative of the Saarland in the first round to AC Milan . After the first leg in the San Siro stadium was sensationally won 4: 3, the 1st FCS lost 4: 1 in the second leg in front of a home crowd and was eliminated. Theo Puff made an own goal in the 75th minute when the score was 1-1 .
