Willy Massoth (born January 1, 1911 in Groß-Steinheim , † November 21, 1978 in Remagen ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, Massoth completed an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk and then worked in this profession. In addition, he was active in the Catholic youth movement of the Diocese of Mainz from 1924 to 1940 . After the National Socialists came to power, he was taken into " protective custody " in 1934 and 1936 . He was then unemployed. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was most recently taken prisoner by the United States.

Political party

After the end of the war, Massoth joined the CDU and was managing director of the CDU district association in Offenbach am Main from 1945 to 1949 . He was also state chairman of the Junge Union Hessen from 1946 to 1953 .

Massoth was from 1946 to 1948 a member of the Offenbach district council . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1957 from its first election . He moved into parliament via the state list of the CDU Hessen.

Massoth served as mayor of the city ​​of Cochem from 1957 to 1969 .
