Theodor Vogeler

Theodor Vogeler (born July 23, 1900 in Hamburg , † December 22, 1975 in West Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

Theodor Vogeler was born as the son of the actor Heinrich Vogeler . He attended a humanistic grammar school and after finishing school he trained as a stage technician, ballet dancer and actor. He made his stage debut in Bautzen in 1920, after which he began to study German literature , theater studies and art history in Berlin and Rostock. From 1923 Vogeler was then engaged at various provincial theaters as an actor, director, dramaturge and set designer. In the war year 1941 he was brought to the Berlin Schiller Theater by Heinrich George . After the war Vogeler continued his career mainly on stages in the western part of Berlin, again at the Schiller Theater and the Schlosspark Theater .

Vogeler first played in front of the camera in 1938. In 1942 he had smaller roles in films such as Ewiger Rembrandt and Fronttheater , in 1944/45 he shot the unfinished film We both loved Katharina . Around 1950 Vogeler was seen more often in DEFA productions , such as Louis Pasteur in the film Semmelweis - Savior of Mothers . In later years he was used repeatedly in German fairy tale films.

From 1949 onwards, Theodor Vogeler also took part in several radio play productions for the RIAS and the broadcaster Free Berlin .
