Theodor Wolder

Theodor Wolder , also Latinized Theodorus Wolderus (* December 23, 1628 in Königsberg ; † January 6, 1672 ibid) was a lawyer, rector of the University of Königsberg and hymn poet.

His parents were the pastor at the Old Town Church Martin Wolder and his wife Anna Bogler . Already in his youth he composed hymns and melodies.

He went to Wittenberg to study law there. In 1652 he received his doctorate in law here. In 1654 he became an associate professor of law in Königsberg. He was rector of the university four times. His brother Christoph Wolder (1644–1669) was also a lawyer there.

Johann Weichmann , the cantor at his father's church, published a collection of songs: Sorge-Lägerin: the several parts of spiritual and secular love serving for devotion and lust for honor , Königsberg 1648. There were also 15 songs from the youth of Theodor Wolder. Some of these later came into church hymn books , but are not included in either the Protestant church hymnbook or the Protestant hymnbook today :

In 1655 he married the widow Popping.
