Theodor Zschokke

Theodor Karl Joseph Zschokke (born January 16, 1806 in Biberstein , † December 18, 1866 in Aarau ) was a Swiss doctor and naturalist .

Life

The eldest son of the writer Heinrich Zschokke received private lessons from his father. From 1821 he attended the canton school in Aarau . While attending school, he completed an apprenticeship as a plumber from 1822 to 1824 . In 1824 he began studying medicine in Geneva, which he continued in Munich and Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1827. In 1828 he passed the exam at the Aarau sanitary authority and worked as a doctor first in Frick , then in Aarau. In 1831 he became a garrison doctor and in 1833 a district doctor. On August 14, 1832, he married Julie Koechlin in Aarau. From 1836 he was a member of the municipal, from 1839 also the cantonal school authority. In 1840 he was elected to the canton school as a teacher of science . In addition, Heinrich Zschokke, as an active member of the Natural Research Society, wrote a large number of treatises on his own scientific investigations.

The estate of Theodor Zschokke is located in the State Archives of Aargau .
