Theofanis George Stavrou

Theofanis George Stavrou ( Greek Θεοφάνης Γιώργος Σταύρου , * 1934 ) is a Greek-American historian with a focus on Eastern and Southeast European history as well as a Neo-Greekist .

Stavrou is Professor of History and Director of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Minnesota and founder and editor of the journal Modern Greek Studies .

Stavrou works in particular on the history of Russia and its relations in Eastern Europe , the religious history of Russia and Orthodoxy in general, the history of south- east Europe , the history of modern Greece and its relations with the Slavic environment . In addition, he has also devoted himself to various authors of modern Greek literature ( Kostis Palamas , Dionysios Solomos , Alexandros Papadiamantis ).
