View from the eastern slope of Jägersgrün

Various forest paths lead to the tree-lined summit of the fully wooded mountain, which only allows a view to the northwest of the Friedrichsgrün district. From the eastern slope above Jägersgrün the view of the main ridge of the Ore Mountains opens up.

history

The Chemnitz-Aue-Adorf railway line, which was closed in 1994, runs on the north side of the Thierberg in the Muldental . A considerable part of the spruce stand on the northern flank was destroyed on June 22nd, 1998, together with the stand in the adjacent Mulden valley, by a tornado , which also destroyed the Jägersgrün station.

geology

The radium contained in the water of the radium source arises from the radioactive decay of uranium , which is contained in the mountains as uranium ore . In modern times there was no mining at Thierberg. In the area around Schneckenstein a few kilometers to the south, uranium ore was mined.
