Thierry Janssen

Thierry Janssen (born April 25, 1962 ) is a Belgian therapist , surgeon , urologist and author who works in the therapeutic support of physically ill people. He teaches at the Université Sigmund Freud in Paris and is the founder of the École de la présence thérapeutique in Brussels.

Life

Janssen obtained his academic and advanced training in Belgium, France and the USA: He received his doctorate in 1987 as Docteur en Médecine at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), Belgium. He then took part in further training in general surgery and gynecology at the Cliniques Universitaires Saint Luc of UCL and in further training in urological surgery at the Cliniques Universitaires Saint Luc of UCL, at the Hôpital Saint-Louis in Paris , at the Center Hospitalier Universitaire Kurpan in Toulouse and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in the United States. He received a diploma in urological surgery from the UCL Medical School and a diploma in andrology from the Saint Antoine Medical School in Paris.

Until 1998 he worked in surgical urology at the Erasmus Hospital (Hôpital Erasme) of the Université libre de Bruxelles . He researched the influence of hormones and growth factors on prostate cancer . In 1998 he stopped working as a surgeon.

He took a break during which he worked for Emporio-Armani in Paris for a few months . He then took lessons at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing , where he studied various techniques for four years that require a pronounced quality of self-presence - the présence à soi-même , of being with oneself. Thereupon he took up the therapeutic activity again, but now concentrates on the therapeutic accompaniment of physically ill people, above all chronically ill and cancer patients.

Janssen teaches at the Université Sigmund Freud in Paris, a branch of the Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna . In 2015 he founded the École de la présence thérapeutique in Brussels, which gives people in medical and health-related professions lessons on self-presence.
