Otto Zentgraf

Otto Friedrich Wilhelm Zentgraf (born June 12, 1811 in Michelstadt ; † March 2, 1890 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian judge , politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

biography

Otto Zentgraf was the son of the district judge at the Michelstadt district court, Johan Christian Zentgraf (1782-1850) and his wife Louise Friederike Christine, née Brand (1785-1826). Zentgraf, who was a Protestant, married Amalie, née Machhauer (1819–1910), on August 11, 1838. Their son Wilhelm (1839–1917) became pastor and councilor and father of Eduard Zentgraf .

Zentgraf studied law at the University of Giessen from 1829 and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. During his studies he became a member of the Old Giessener Burschenschaft Germania in 1829 and of the Corps Vandalia II in 1830. In 1836 he became an assessor with a vote at the regional court in Höchst in the Odenwald . In 1842 he became a district judge there before becoming a public prosecutor at the court in Gießen in 1849 . In 1857 he became court judge there, and in 1861 he moved to the Darmstadt Higher Appeal Court as a judge of higher appeal and cassation . In 1863 he also became a member of the Obekreigsgericht in Darmstadt and rose to director in 1871 and President of the Darmstadt Court of Appeal in 1876. In 1874 he received the title of secret council . In 1876 he was retired.

From 1856 to 1862 and again from 1866 to 1872 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 7 / Höchst . In 1876 he was appointed by the Grand Duke as a member of the first chamber of the estates for life. In the estates he took conservative positions.
