Life

Emmerling studied 1815-1818 jurisprudence at the Hessian Ludwigs-University of Giessen and the University of Jena . As a member of the Gießen Germanic Association (1815) as well as the honor mirror fraternity and the original fraternity in Jena, he took part in the Wartburg festival in 1817 . From 1832 to 1834 he was elected to the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse for the first time, in which he was part of the liberal opposition. In 1847 he rejected an invitation from Heinrich von Gagern to participate in the Heppenheim assembly because of concerns about his constituencies as too radical, but in 1848 he was a member of the pre-parliament . In March of the same year the March government of Hesse-Darmstadt appointed him to the Ministerialrat in the Ministry of Justice. From September 16, 1848 to May 24, 1849, he was the successor of Carl Jaup's deputy for Umstadt in the Frankfurt National Assembly . There he belonged to the Augsburger Hof parliamentary group .

In 1849 he was appointed to the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse, and in 1850 he was a member of the Erfurt Union Parliament .

In 1850 he was appointed General State Procurator at the Darmstadt Higher Appeal Court and continued to do this until his death.
