Heinrich Philipp Ludwig

Heinrich Philipp Ludwig (born April 16, 1777 in Bessungen , † January 20, 1864 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian pastor and liberal politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Life

Heinrich Philipp Ludwig was the son of the chief forester Ludwig Ludwig (1725–1796) and his wife Johanette Ferdinande Sophie, née Briehl. Ludwig, who was a Protestant, married Johanette Wilhelmine Philippine nee Klein (1794-1854). The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Justus Jakob Carl Ludwig (1819–1889), court counselor in Darmstadt
  • Hermann Ludwig (1815–1834), student
  • Carl Georg Ludwig (1826–1910), Professor Dr. med., psychiatrist, institution director
  • Ernst Ludwig, (* Darmstadt, † Friedberg 1848), cadet
  • Friedrich Ludwig († 1884, Dr. jur., Chief magistrate)
  • Emilie Ludwig

Ludwig was a free preacher, parish vicar and first girl teacher in Darmstadt. There he became third pastor in 1810, second pastor in 1816 and dean in 1833. From 1832 until his retirement in 1854, he was clerical counsel in the upper consistory in Darmstadt . In 1834 he was promoted to Dr. theol. hc doctorate.

From 1820 to 1824 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 9 / Erbach .

In 1844 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Grand Ducal Hessian Order of Merit.
