Kaspar Achatius Beck (born December 22, 1685 in Markt Berolzheim , † November 28, 1733 in Jena ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Kaspar Achatius was born as the son of the pastor Johann Jacob Beck (born December 1, 1653 in Großhabersdorf; † November 22, 1719 in Ansbach) and his wife Sophia Rosina Ulmer (born November 2, 1657 in Gunzenhausen). He attended high schools in Ansbach and the monastery in Heilbronn . In 1705 he enrolled at the University of Jena where he studied law, philosophy and history. During his studies he moved to Halle (Saale) , Wittenberg on April 16, 1708 and returned to Jena. Here he was licensed in 1709 , doctor of both rights in 1710 and court advocate in 1711.

In 1718 he became associate professor of law and assessor at the jury's chair , in 1726 he was given the full professorship at the university, making him assessor at the court court and chairing the faculty of law. When he became professor of the Pandects in 1730 , he also took over the office of court councilor of the Ernestine Saxon houses.

In 1731 he became full professor of the Faculty of Law, President of the Schöppenstuhl, Professor Primarius and first assessor of the bourgeois bank in the court court. Beck also took part in the organizational tasks of the Salana and was Rector of the Alma Mater in the summer semesters 1727 and 1731 . In 1722 he wrote an edition of Charles VI's election surrender . and various dissertations in Latin. Most important are his programs, "De Novellis Leonis Augusti et Philosophi earumque usu et auctoritate", which were printed together and reissued in 1779 with notes and appendices.

Beck married on April 30, 1711 in Jena with Dorothea Sophia Slevogt (* 1691 in Jena; † June 29, 1771 ibid.), The daughter of Professor Johann Philipp Slevogt . Different children resulted from the marriage.
