Thierry Steimetz (born July 9, 1983 in Creutzwald ) is a former French football player .

He played 10 games for FC Metz in Ligue 2 and also completed 80 games in the first Luxembourg league , in which he scored 18 goals. In the last years of his career, Steimetz played in the fourth German league for FC 08 Homburg .

Career

Steimetz played from 2001 to the beginning of 2012 in the reserve team of RC Lens , with third division US Roye, fourth division US Forbach , in Luxembourg with CS Grevenmacher and again in France with CSO Amnéville .

In the winter of 2012 he moved to the then second division club FC Metz . He made his professional football debut on March 6, 2012 when he was substituted on for Yeni N'Gbakoto on matchday 22 against Stade Laval in the 68th minute of the game. He came to ten missions for the Metzers and was relegated with the team from Ligue 2. On July 1, 2012, he moved to Luxembourg to F91 Dudelange . He gained notoriety on July 23, 2012, when he scored two goals in the 3: 4 defeat in the second leg of the second qualifying round for the Champions League against Red Bull Salzburg . Since Dudelange had won the first leg 1-0, they moved into the next round.

In July 2014 Steimetz went to the German regional division FC 08 Homburg . On April 25, 2015 Steimetz completed his first of four season appearances in a 3-0 win on matchday 30 of the Regionalliga Südwest against KSV Baunatal . In the same year a benign tumor was removed from his calf. On November 11, 2016, Steimetz played his last game as an active player in a 2-0 win on matchday 20 of the 2016/17 season against FC Nöttingen , in which he scored the final score.

In February 2017 he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor, due to which a lower leg was amputated at the end of April 2017.
