Thilo Dahlmann

Thilo Dahlmann (* 1975 in Zell (Mosel) ) is a German opera and concert singer ( bass baritone ) and university lecturer.

Life

Growing up in the Hunsrück, he first studied law, history, political science, Romance studies and musicology at the University of Bonn .

He then studied singing at the Folkwang University in Essen with Ulf Bästlein , Berthold Schmid , Guido Baehr and Wolfgang Millgramm . In 2007 he passed his concert exam with distinction.

In the 2006/2007 season he was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Zurich Opera House . He received important impulses from the baritone Roland Hermann .

Master classes with Charles Spencer , Michael Volle and Rudolf Piernay completed his artistic career, as did the collaboration with Carol Meyer-Bruetting .

Thilo Dahlmann won first prize at the North Rhine-Westphalia State Singing Competition.

The repertoire of the bass baritone ranges from early baroque vocal music to numerous world premieres. The main focus of his repertoire is on the works of Bach , Handel , the great romantic oratorios up to Britten's War Requiem .

He sang in concert halls such as the Philharmonie in Cologne and Essen , the Tonhalle Zurich , the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden .

He was a guest at the Folle Journée in Nantes, Bilbao and Tokyo, the Handel Festival in Halle , the Gluck Festival in Nuremberg , the Leipzig Bach Festival , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Salzburg Festival, as well as at the opening concert of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg .

CD and radio recordings

Radio and television recordings complement his artistic activity as well as CD and DVD recordings. The Viennese label Capriccio released a debut CD with Schubert songs, accompanied by Charles Spencer on the piano.

University

Thilo Dahlmann taught at the HfMT Cologne in Wuppertal and was a visiting professor at the KunstUni Graz . Thilo Dahlmann has been Professor of Singing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts since 2018 .
