Extraction and presentation

Thiocarbonohydrazide can be obtained by reacting hydrazine hydrate with carbon disulfide and 2-chloroethanol as a catalyst. After the reaction has ended, the products are heated to remove hydrogen sulfide.

Thiocarbonohydrazide is used for the synthesis of metribuzin and for the staining of carbohydrates in electron microscopy .
