Thizy is a former French commune in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes with last 6369 inhabitants. It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Thizy-les-Bourgs .

The municipality has grown together with the neighboring municipality of Bourg-de-Thizy to the west .

With effect from January 1, 2013, the municipality of Thizy was combined with the municipalities of Bourg-de-Thizy , La Chapelle-de-Mardore , Mardore and Marnand to form a commune nouvelle with the name Thizy-les-Bourgs . Thizy was set as the main town and has since formed a commune déléguée in this association.
