Journalist and author

Hartmann worked as a journalist for several years and received, among other things, the Jesse H. Neal Award for his reporting .

Hartmann has published numerous articles and books on political and contemporary topics as well as health issues. He is also the author of several novels.

In his books on ADHD , he hypothesized that ADHD is not a disease , but a genetic peculiarity that can be traced back to the hunters and gatherers of the Stone Age . Hartmann created the Hunter / Farmer theory as a metaphor and explained that ADHD not only has disadvantages but also various advantages and can therefore also be viewed as a gift.

The aim of his ADHD books is to help those affected and their relatives in everyday life and to offer them a new perspective on how to use the special features of ADHD. They thus received an alternative to the previously unconsciously preferred adaptation to the “farmer's world”.

In the book Ultimate Sacrifice (2006), Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann speculate whether John F. Kennedy was killed by the Mafia.
