Thomas Arnoldner (born October 26, 1977 in Vienna ) is an Austrian manager . In July 2018 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by the Supervisory Board of A1 Telekom Austria Group, starting September 1, 2018.

Life

After attending school, Thomas Arnoldner studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and at the Stockholm School of Economics , graduating in 2005/06 with a master's degree with a thesis on the governance of political parties .

In 2003 he began his professional career at Alcatel Austria, where in 2013 he became CEO of Alcatel- Lucent Austria AG. From 2015 he was part of the integration team as part of the takeover of Alcatel-Lucent by Nokia and was responsible for developing the European market strategy of the combined company. He was also responsible for Nokia's European growth strategy in the areas of Smart City, National Broadband Programs and Public Safety. From March 2017, he was Managing Director of T-Systems Austria for sales and service alongside Peter Lenz .

The nomination of Thomas Arnoldner as CEO of the A1 Telekom Austria Group was announced on April 19, 2018, the appointment by the Supervisory Board on September 1, 2018 took place on July 26, 2018. The contract was initially concluded until August 31, 2021, with a Extension option until August 31, 2023. As CEO, he replaced Alejandro Plater, who was nominated by the Mexican majority owner Carlos Slim , who remained on the Executive Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The Republic of Austria thereby exercised its right granted in the Telekom Syndicate Agreement to appoint the Group's CEO. According to the shareholder pact, the Austrian Federal and Industrial Participations (ÖBIB) may provide the chairman of the board and the head of the supervisory board. On May 15, 2019, he also became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the operating subsidiary A1 Telekom Austria .

From 2001 he was federal deputy chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP) under Silvia Fuhrmann . He was also the district chairman and deputy regional chairman in Vienna. In the National Council election in Austria in 2006 , he ran for the ÖVP on the federal list. Arnoldner was a member of the board of the Association of Industrialists (IV) Vienna. Since January 2019 he has been President of the Management Club , an Austria-wide platform for managers, executives, experts and political decision-makers.

He is married to Bernadette Arnoldner , who has been the country manager of ÖVP Vienna since December 2017 and with whom he has two children.
