Keur Madiabel is a town in the department of Nioro du Rip the Kaolack region , located in the south of the center of Senegal .
Geographical location
Keur Madiabel is located south of Saloum in the northwest of the Nioro du Rip department, halfway between the Kaolack regional prefecture in the north and the border with Gambia in the south and thus in the peanut basin of Senegal.
Keur Madiabel is 178 kilometers southeast of Dakar , 32 kilometers south of the Kaolack regional prefecture and 32 kilometers northwest of Nioro du Rip .
history
The village of Keur Madiabel was the capital of a communauté rurale and in 2008 achieved the status of a commune (city). Associated with this was the outsourcing of the urban area from the area of the rural community, whose main town and namesake from then on was the village of Keur Mandongo . The urban area extends a certain number of kilometers in all four directions, measured from the intersection of the roads to Kaolack in the north, to Touba Niane in the east and to Keur Mandongo in the west. This resulted in a calculated urban area of 30.00 km².

Keur Madiabel is located off the network of national roads . A 24-kilometer paved road, which branches off south of the N 4 south of Kaolack in Kavil , connects the city with the rest of the country. After passing through Keur Madiabel, the piste continues to the vicinity of the border with Gambia, where it branches off to the west towards Toubacouta and east towards Nioro du Rip.
Via the N4, Keur Madiabel is connected to Kaolack Airport, 33 km away, and to the national air transport network.
