Thomas Assheuer

Thomas Assheuer (* 1955 in Arnsberg ) is a German journalist .

From 1975 to 1982 Assheuer studied German and philosophy at the Universities of Münster and Hamburg ; In 1983 he completed a traineeship at the Hessischer Rundfunk and was then editor of the “Kulturellen Wort”. In 1991 he switched to the features section of the Frankfurter Rundschau . Since 1997 he has been the features editor of the weekly newspaper “ Die Zeit ”.

Assheuer was a member of the jury for the Bielefeld Science Prize .

Prizes and awards

The ZEIT book "Was wird aus der Demokratie?" (Verlag Leske + Budrich ), published by Thomas Assheuer together with Werner A. Perger, received a recognition prize of 25,000 schillings as part of the Bruno Kreisky Prize for the political book 2000.
