Thomas Boude

Thomas Boude (born May 17, 1752 in Lancaster , Province of Pennsylvania , †  October 24, 1822 in Columbia , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1801 and 1803 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Boude attended private schools in his home country. During the Revolutionary War he served in the Continental Army under General Anthony Wayne . In doing so, he rose to major in brevet. After the war he worked as a timber merchant in Columbia. He was one of the founders and a member of the Society of the Cincinnati . Between 1794 and 1796 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania . Politically, he became a member of the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton in the late 1790s .

In the 1800 congressional election , Boude was elected to the 7th constituency of the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded John W. Kittera on March 4, 1801 . Since he was not confirmed in 1802, he could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1803 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Boude returned to the timber trade. He died in Columbia on October 24, 1822.
