Thomas Bruns (dramaturge)

Thomas Bruns (* 1964 ) is a German guitarist and dramaturge .

Life

From 1984 to 1988 Bruns studied guitar with Dieter Rumstig at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin . His teacher gave him the decisive impetus for new music .

In 1988 he founded the Chamber Ensemble Neue Musik Berlin together with Juliane Klein . In 1996 he ended his career as a musician and became the ensemble's producer and dramaturge. Guest appearances have taken the group to important European cities, Asia, the USA and South America. Among other things, he produced the monodrama Lohengrin by Salvatore Sciarrino and the mixed media work The Photographer by Philip Glass.

In 2003/2004 he was the curator of the space + place festival (sponsored by the Federal Cultural Foundation ). He also set up the HouseMusik (Prenzlauer Perg) and winter music ( Berlin Academy of the Arts ) projects . From 2008 to 2011 he was managing director of the Berlin network for the mediation of new music ohrenstrand.net .

Bruns continued to serve on the advisory board of the journal for contemporary music positions .
