Thomas Christian Tychsen
Thomas Christian Tychsen (born May 8, 1758 in Horsbüll , Schleswig, † October 23, 1834 in Göttingen ) was a German orientalist .
Life
Tychsen studied in Kiel and Göttingen , then went on a scientific journey through Germany, Italy, France and Spain. In 1784 he became associate professor of theology at the University of Göttingen, in 1788 full professor of oriental languages and in 1797 a full member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .
Tychsen was a member of the Göttingen Freemason Lodge Augusta for the golden circle.
In the epic poem of the same name , the poet Ernst Schulze celebrated his daughter Cäcilie (died 1812 at the age of 18), who was distinguished by her beauty and talent .
