Thomas Kerstan

Thomas Kerstan (born May 5, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist and author . He is the educational policy correspondent for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , editor-in-chief of “Zeit Studienführer” and publisher of Zeit Campus .

Life

Kerstan initially trained as an industrial clerk . He then became editor-in-chief of the youth magazine elan in Dortmund and then completed a degree in computer science at the University of Hamburg , which he graduated with a diploma. At the same time he was managing partner of the "Society for Further Education" in Rostock .

Kerstan is an editor at the Hamburg weekly newspaper Die Zeit and until 2014 headed the education department "Opportunities", which he founded . He has been the journal’s education policy correspondent since 2015. He is also co-founder and editor-in-chief of the annual study guide for this weekly newspaper. In October 2006 he was the founder of the ZEIT student magazine Zeit Campus . Initially, he acted as editor-in-chief, and in July 2007 he became its editor .

On November 23, 2006, the Education Action Council awarded the "Education Media Prize 2006" to Die Zeit , with Dieter Lenzen , Chairman of the Education Action Council, in his laudatory speech in particular reporting the reports by the editors Thomas Kerstan (Head of Opportunities), Martin Spiewak (Knowledge) and Jan-Martin Wiarda (Opportunities Department) highlighted.
