Thomas Kluge (environmental researcher)

Thomas Kluge (born May 30, 1948 in Kiel ) is a German social scientist and environmental researcher .

Kluge grew up in Schleswig-Holstein and Mainz , where he attended the Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium . Then he studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main . After passing the second state examination , he worked as a journalist before taking his doctorate in Frankfurt in 1984 on the subject of society, nature, technology: on the philosophy of life and ecological criticism of technology and society . In 1989 he and Egon Becker were among the founders of the Institute for Social-Ecological Research . There he initially headed the institute's water and sustainable environmental planning department ; from 2010 to 2014 he was a member of the institute's management. In 1999 he qualified as a professor in the field of social sciences at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Kassel .

Clever research focuses on water research , sustainable environmental planning and regional sustainability . His numerous projects include a. CuveWaters - Integrated Water Resource Management in Namibia and netWORKS - Transformation Management for Sustainable Water Management. Kluge is active in the German Water Partnership (GWP) country forum for Africa .
