Thomas Lynch junior (born August 5, 1749 in Prince George's Parish , Province of South Carolina , † 1779 at sea en route from the United States to the West Indies) was a lawyer and is one of the signatories of the United States Declaration of Independence for South Carolina one of the American founding fathers .

His father was Thomas Lynch . Lynch studied law at Cambridge University in England and returned to the overseas colonies in 1772 . He became company commander in the 1st South Carolina Regiment in 1775 and was elected to the Continental Congress. Here Lynch tried to enforce a ban on speaking about slavery . At the end of 1779 he fell ill and sailed with his wife to the West Indies. Your ship is lost at sea.

His stepfather was the governor of South Carolina, William Moultrie ; one of his nephews, James Hamilton , also became governor of that state.
