Thomas Meyerhöfer

Thomas Meyerhöfer (* 1950 in Munich ) is a former German radio journalist and chief presenter at Bayerischer Rundfunk .

Life

Meyerhöfer is the son of Emil Meyerhöfer and Susanne Meyerhöfer, née Adlon, half-brother of Percy Adlon , who is 15 years older, and grandson of Louis Adlon . He grew up in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and was often in Liguria , where the family owned a weekend house and he learned Italian. From 1953 to 1970 his father was the deputy director and Latin and Greek teacher at the Garmisch Gymnasium. After graduating from high school in 1969, he began studying classical philology , German and Italian in Munich. During his studies he met his wife Susanne.

In 1973 he started at Bayerischer Rundfunk in the newly founded service wave Bayern 3 and dropped out of his studies. There he could be heard in the traffic, tourism and service editorial team , including in the motorist magazine Gute Fahrt . He then switched to the Zeitfunk editorial team and moderated magazine programs such as B3-Kurier . From 1982 to 1985 was Meyerhöfer ARD - correspondent in Rome . He then returned to the Zeitfunk editorial staff of Bayerischer Rundfunk.

From the beginning of 1989 until the end of his 42-year service with BR on May 8, 2015, Meyerhöfer moderated the early edition of the radioWelt program, alternating weekly with other moderators . For 26 years he got up at 3 a.m. in his broadcast weeks to get on the show in time. He also moderated the book magazine Diwan and the weekly program on the German language So to speak! . The moderator was also head of the Hörerforum und Medienkritik editorial team , which produces , among other things, the daily program Tages talk on Bayern 2 and ARD-alpha .

Meyerhöfer is married and has a son and a daughter.
