Thomas Nüssli (born March 12, 1982 in Herisau ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who was last under contract with the SCL Tigers in the Swiss National League .

Career

Thomas Nüssli began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at SC Herisau , for which he made his debut in the National League B in the 1998/99 season . In the following three years the attacker played for EV Zug in the National League A , where he ran parallel for the EHC Basel in the NLB. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the ninth round as a total of 277th player by the Vancouver Canucks , for which he however never played. Instead, the right-shooter moved towards the end of the 2001/02 season to the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , for whom he was on the ice until 2004.

For the 2004/05 season Nüssli signed with EHC Basel , with whom he immediately succeeded in promotion to the National League A. The Swiss played for Basel for a total of four years before he left them after their relegation in 2008 and was signed by their relegation opponent and promoted EHC Biel . In April 2011 Nüssli moved to HC Thurgau in the second highest Swiss division due to his chronic back pain .

In the following two seasons he was used in parallel as a loan player with the SCL Tigers before he moved permanently to them in April 2014.

Due to persistent back problems, he missed the entire 2018/19 season.

International

For Switzerland , Nüssli took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2000 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2001 and 2002 .
