Thomas Ospital (* 1990 ) is a French organist .

Life

Thomas Ospital was born in 1990 in the French Basque Country . He received his musical training at the Conservatoire Maurice Ravel Bayonne Côte Basque in the organ class of Esteban Landart. From 2008 to 2015 he continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory , where he took lessons from renowned organists such as Olivier Latry , Michel Bouvard , Thierry Escaich , Philippe Lefebvre and Pierre Pincemaille . In 2012 he was young artist in residence for half a year at the Saint Louis King of France Cathedral in New Orleans (USA) and in 2015 artist in residence at the Festival de musique sacrée de Rocamadour . Thomas Ospital has been titular organist at the great organ of Saint-Eustache in Paris since 2015 . In 2016 he was also appointed première organiste en résidence at the new organ of the Maison de la Radio (Radio France).

His main musical direction is improvisation , which he u. a. when accompanying silent films . In addition, concerts as an organist and chamber musician have taken him to many European countries , Russia and the USA .

  • 2012: Prix Duruflé and Audience Award in Chartres
  • 2013: 2nd prize at the International Xavier Darasse Competition in Toulouse
  • 2014: Grand Prix Jean-Louis Florentz and audience award of the International Organ Competition of Angers under the patronage of the Académie des Beaux-Arts * * 2014: 2nd place, audience award and Prix Jean-Louis Florentz at the Concours International de Chartres
