Thomas Rammerstorfer (* 1976 in Wels ) is an Austrian politician , journalist , author and geriatric nurse .

Life

Rammerstorfer grew up in Wels and completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller in 1994. He has been working in the elderly since 2001. He also works as a lecturer, journalist and book author, mainly on the subject of right-wing extremism . He went public several times with information about right-wing extremist activities, such as an appearance by the right-wing extremist songwriter Fylgien at a Ried fraternity in 2017 or a planned concert in the vicinity of the Turkish right-wing extremist Gray Wolves in Langenstein in 2019.

In 2017, a lecture by Rammerstorfer entitled “Extremist Challenges in Austria” at a Linz grammar school was canceled by the school director after an intervention by the FPÖ National Council Roman Haider . Haider justified his approach by stating that the lecture was only about the "danger from the right" and that this way students were "incited". The Upper Austrian state school board later determined, however, that the interruption of the lecture was "not permitted". In connection with this affair, the weekly newspaper Wochenblick was sentenced to pay Rammerstorfer € 3,000 for defamation.

In February 2020, Rammerstorfer announced that he would run as the top candidate of the Greens in the municipal council elections in Wels in 2021.
