Thomas Richter (born June 29, 1967 in Hof ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player.

Career

player

Richter's career began at ATS Hof-West. In 1990 he came from VfB Helmbrechts (Landesliga Bayern, then fourth-highest division) to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga and won the German championship in 1991. He stayed with FCK until 1993 and made 21 appearances during this time, but was unable to secure a regular place under either coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp or Rainer Zobel . In addition, injuries prevented further missions. Between 1993 and 1997 he played 90 games and scored eight goals in the second Bundesliga for Hertha BSC and SV Waldhof Mannheim . Most recently he played from 1997 to 1999 in the Regionalliga West / Südwest at Eintracht Trier , with which he made it to the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in 1998 . Due to ankle problems , he had to end his career.

Trainer

In the 2006/07 season Thomas Richter was player-coach in Luxembourg for FC Jeunesse Biwer (4th division). The village club (747 inhabitants) reached the quarter-finals of the Luxembourg National Cup for the first time in over 30 years under Richter, but was eliminated there against the later finalist UN Käerjéng ​​97 (1st division). From 2007 to 2010 Thomas Richter was under contract at Eintracht Trier as an assistant trainer. He worked there with the head coaches Werner Weiß and Mario Basler .

Since 2014 Richter has been working as a supporting trainer in the youth department of the FSV Trier-Tarforst, where his son is active. Professionally, he works as a sports teacher and fitness coach in Trier.
