It is the South Slavic nickname and diminutive of the Slavic given name Ivan , where Ivan corresponds to the Slavic , Christian variant of the Latinized first name Johannes , which in turn is derived from the Greek (Ιωάννης = Ioannes) or Hebrew (יוחנן = Jochanan) form .
