Thomas Schlieter (born January 28, 1981 in Duisburg ) is a German football player .

Career

Thomas Schlieter comes from the youth of MSV Duisburg . He played at Duisburg FV 08 until 2001 when he switched to Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 , where he played until 2003. Then he switched to Adler Osterfeld . In 2005 Schlieter was signed by SSVg Velbert . During the winter break of the 2006/07 season, Schlieter moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and was promoted to the Regionalliga Nord during the season . In the following season he managed to march through to the 2nd Bundesliga with RWO . Schlieter made his second division debut on the 2nd matchday of the 2008/09 season against FC Ingolstadt 04 .

In the following three years of RWO membership in the second division, Thomas Schlieter made 82 appearances in the second division until the club had to relegate to the third division after the 2010/11 season . Schlieter then joined the regional league team Wuppertaler SV Borussia and signed a two-year contract there in June 2011. In July 2013 he moved to VfB Homberg in the Oberliga Niederrhein . After two years he was relegated from the Oberliga to the Landesliga with VfB in 2015. As the national league champion in 2016, they immediately returned to the old division. On December 18, 2016, the club announced before the league home game against VfB 03 Hilden that Thomas Schlieter would withdraw from the league squad at his own request. He then played for the Homberg reserve team - temporarily as captain - with whom he was promoted from the district league A to the district league in the summer of 2018. At the end of the 2018/19 season Schlieter hung up his football boots "for good" after several announcements that they would do so earlier.

In January 2020 it was announced that Thomas Schlieter would play for BV Osterfeld in the district league B in the second half of the 2019/20 season . There he meets former RWO companions such as Tuncay Aksoy or Musa Çelik , promotion to the district league A is targeted.
